Detailed Itinerary of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari

Day 1 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Drive to Kibale National Park & relax. Tour the Amabere g’Nyinamwiru caves & adventure hike to the Fort Portal Crater lake field

Breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, depart at 6:30am for the transfer to Fort Portal Area to the west of Uganda 300km about 5 hours drive. The drive offers good views of rural landscapes, en route towns, inselbergs of Mubende, swamps and forests both natural and plantation.  Hot lunch in Fort Portal after which you can opt to undertake a heritage tour to Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru caves believed traditionally to be breasts of Nnyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku – a self-enthroned King of the Bachwezi who is noted to have denied his daughter a chance of breast feeding her Son in fear that he would take over his throne. From the caves, set off on the hike to Fort Portal Crater lake field – one of the four explosion craters in Uganda for amazing sightseeing experience. Settle for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 2 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale NP & afternoon Bigodi wetland walk

Take up an exciting Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park starting at 8am from Kanyanchu Tourism Centre. Trek through the forest of Kibale – the home of 13 species of primates and the haven for best Chimpanzee sightings in the whole world. Chimp trek activity takes 2 – 5 hours inclusive of 1 hour with the Chimps exploring them as they forage and socialize. In the afternoon, take up Bigodi wetland walk with possibilities viewing the Great Blue Turaco among other bird species, swamp dwelling Sitatunga among others. Settle for overnight.

Day 3 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Optional Ishasha sector game drive en route 

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving past the amazing scenic landscapes of the mountains of the moon – the Rwenzoris towering up to 5,109m above sea level with snowcapped peaks. You also drive past the rolling savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park lying on the Albertine rift flats. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Do Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park & transfer to Kigali 

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the diverse and rich protected areas in Uganda. With a minimum of 400 Mountain Gorillas which is close to a half of their world population, Bwindi presents a very rewarding Mountain Gorilla trekking starting at 8am from the respective park station with briefing by the park ranger guides. The gorilla trek duration is 2 – 8 hours but with one full hour of actual viewing and photoshoots. It involves traversing beautiful landscapes with steep hills and narrow valleys amidst lush flora and birds.  From the activity, you transfer to Kigali with amazing views of Kigezi Highlands and Rwandan hillsides.

Day 6 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Transfer from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park & do game drive

 Morning breakfast and depart at for Amboseli National Park. Enjoy a leisurely drive arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive at 1600hrs in search of wildlife.

Day 7 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Morning game drive in Amboseli, cross to Tanzania & transfer to Tarangire National Park

Early morning game drive, return to the camp for breakfast, checkout and drive to Namanga – Kenya/Tanzania border. After clearing with immigration officials and change of vehicles, depart for Arusha. Hot lunch will be served at Arusha hotel. After a sumptuous meal proceed to Tarangire national park

Day 8 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Extensive game drive in Tarangire National Park and transfer to Karatu

Breakfast and depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full day game drives. Picnic lunch will be served at a picnic site.

Tarangire National park (130 km from Arusha) covers an area of 2,600 km squared, between the plains of the Maasai steppe to the south-east, and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west. The Northern park is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River which flows to Lake Burungi.

Large numbers of elephant herds congregate here, as well as Wildebeest and zebra. Others include impalas, giraffes, gazelles, both greater and lesser Kudu among others.

Late afternoon drive to your lodge/camp for check in and leisure. Picnic lunch will be served at a picnic site. Afternoon depart for Karatu

Day 9 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari:  Extensive game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater & transfer to Serengeti National Park

Early morning breakfast and depart for Ngorongoro with picnic lunch boxes. Descend down the Ngorongoro Crater rim The Ngorongoro Crater is just one part of a larger area of interrelated ecosystems consisting of the crater highlands (to which the Ngorongoro Crater belongs) together with larger stretches of plains bush and woodland.

Ngorongoro conservation area covers an area of about 8300 sq km. Near its centre is the Olduvai Gorge where many fossils have been earthed. Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife – viewing areas.  The crater is about 20kms wide and it is one of the largest calderas in the world. Within its walls is a variety of animals and vegetation, including grasslands, swamps, forests, salt pans, a fresh water lake and rich wildlife. The wildlife found includes lions, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, Thomson’s gazelles, zebra reed bucks.

Picnic lunch will be served at the picnic site and later ascend the Crater rim and head to your Serengeti

Day 10 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Unlimited game drive in Serengeti National Park

Full day game drives. Serengeti covers an area of 14,763 sq km and is a contiguous of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. Serengeti is among the largest National Park in Tanzania and also the most famous National Park in Tanzania.It’s most famous because of the annual migration of wildebeest’s herds in search of better grazing. Serengeti is also famous for its lions, cheetahs, large herds of Zebras, herds of giraffes, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, elands, impalas, warthogs, and also rich in bird life.

Day 11 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Depart Serengeti National Park for Maasai Mara National Reserve. Game drive upon arrival

Early morning breakfast and depart with picnic lunch for Isebania border. Clear with immigration officials and change of vehicles before proceeding to Maasai Mara. This is a vast area of grassy plains converging by the meandering Mara River. It is an African Gem and an area rich in culture, tradition, beauty and home to the big five. It is here that one of the most spectacular phenomena of natural world take place – The great annual wildebeest migration, an occurrence that has been named as one of the seven wonders of the world by a jury of experts polled by ABC TV of the USA. The great migration involves an estimated 1.3 million wildebeests, 200,000 zebras and a multitude of gazelles escorted by a good number of carnivores. The action takes place between July and October. Arrive late evening.

Day 12 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Unlimited game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve

Morning breakfast and depart with picnic lunch for a full day game drives to the Mara River where hippos and crocodiles reside. Return to the camp late afternoon for leisure. You can also opt for an early morning game drive return to the lodge/ camp for breakfast, morning spend at leisure then afternoon game drive.

Day 13 of the 13 Days Uganda Kenya Tanzania Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Transfer to Nairobi. Sightseeing of the Great Rift Valley

After breakfast depart for Nairobi. Enjoy a leisurely drive with a brief stop-over at the view point to marvel at scenic beauty of the Great Rift Valley. Lunch will be served at the carnivore restaurant after which you will be transferred to JKIA for your flight home.
