Amboseli National Park is located in Kajiado county, south of Kenya at the boarder of Tanzania. The park covers an area of 151 square miles at a distance of about 3- 4hrs drive from Nairobi in the south eastern direction. Approximately 240 Km. Amboseli in Maa local language of the Maasai means a place of dust was originally occupied by hunters and later the Chagga and Kamba and finally the Maasai pastoralists arrived from the north. It started as a natural reserve in 1968 and was declared a national park in 1991. In 1991, UNESCO declared Amboseli a biosphere reserve to conserve its exclusive ecosystem.

Amboseli National Park is next to Maasai Mara in popularity in Kenya, it is located at the base of Mountain Kilimanjaro (5895m)-Africa`s highest mountain and the park is also home vast herds of elephants that graze from the greater swamps of Longinye and Enkongo Narok to the dusty plains.
