Are Gorillas afraid of water?
Mountain gorillas just like humans are naturally not fans of swimming and tend to dodge mass water bodies including rivers and Lakes. However, gorillas move through water logged areas using two legs so as to keep the water level on their waist while foraging. Additionally, gorillas can also play around with water. In the event of heavy down pour, gorillas stand still until the rain reduces in volume and if there is a cave or any other natural shelter in the nearby the gorillas draw closer to it until the rain reduces. Gorillas are not like bonobos and Orangutans that use tree leaves and branches to cover themselves from rain.
